Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Description

Delicious and chewy chocolate chip cookie bars made with simple ingredients and a dash of flaky sea salt on top.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 sticks salted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/4 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • flaky sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9×13-inch, or slightly larger, baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition until creamy.
  4. Beat in the vanilla.
  5. Add the flour, baking soda, and sea salt, and beat until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the dough into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 18–25 minutes, until just barely set in the center. We like them doughy; the longer you bake, the more set the bars will become.
  9. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  10. Enjoy a few warm bites from the pan!

Notes

  • These cookie bars are best enjoyed warm, but they can also be stored for later.
  • Feel free to mix in nuts or other types of chocolate chips!
