Description

Deliciously soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies with optional decorations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for decoration, optional)
  • Pink or red sprinkles (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir to mix and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla extract. Mix until well-combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if you are using them.
  7. Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between for spreading.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but the centers are soft.
  9. Remove them from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once the cookies are cool, dust them lightly with powdered sugar and add sprinkles to make them festive.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • You can adjust the amount of chocolate chips according to your preference.
