Description
Deliciously soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies with optional decorations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for decoration, optional)
- Pink or red sprinkles (for decoration, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir to mix and set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla extract. Mix until well-combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if you are using them.
- Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between for spreading.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but the centers are soft.
- Remove them from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cookies are cool, dust them lightly with powdered sugar and add sprinkles to make them festive.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- You can adjust the amount of chocolate chips according to your preference.
