Description

Delicious fried apple pies with a flaky crust and sweet apple filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package pie dough or biscuit dough
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
  • 2 cups vegetable or canola oil, for frying
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook until soft and syrupy. Add cornstarch if needed. Let cool.
  2. Roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick. Cut into circles using a round cutter or bowl.
  3. Spoon cooled apple mixture onto half of each circle, leaving edge space.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry pies in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Dust with sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
  • You can use store-bought pie dough for convenience.
