Description

Delicious cheesy ham biscuits perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 8 oz shredded cheese (I used Colby Jack)
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups cold buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing tops (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, granulated garlic and salt together in a large bowl.
  3. Cut butter and shortening into flour with a fork and mix until well combined.
  4. Add in ham and cheese and stir to combine.
  5. Pour in buttermilk and stir just until mixture comes together.
  6. Pour onto a floured surface and pat into an even layer.
  7. Cut into biscuits using a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
  8. Place biscuits on a greased or lined baking sheet, touching.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through.
  10. Brush with melted butter if desired.
