Description

Delicious chocolate crinkle cookies that are soft and chewy with a powdered sugar coating.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (100g) powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Cover dough and chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar to coat heavily.
  7. Place balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and tops are cracked.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  • Substitute the cocoa powder with carob powder for a different flavor.
