Description
A refreshing salad that highlights the flavors of ripe avocados and sweet oranges.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1–2 oranges (use navel oranges, cara cara, or blood orange, or a mix)
- 2 large avocados (firm, but ripe)
- 1 cup cucumber (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cilantro leaves (optional)
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lime, zest and juice
- Drizzle of olive oil (optional)
- Aleppo chili flakes (or regular chili flakes)
Instructions
- Cut the oranges into bite-sized pieces and place in a medium bowl.
- Cut the avocados into bite-sized pieces and add to the bowl.
- Add optional cilantro and jalapeño.
- Squeeze with ½ a lime.
- Gently toss, being careful not to over mix.
- Adjust salt, lime, and chili to taste.
- Depending on how sweet or tart your oranges are, you may need more or less lime juice. FYI – Blood oranges can often be pretty tart, so start light.
Notes
- This salad is perfect as a light lunch or a side dish.
- You can substitute other herbs for cilantro if you prefer.
