Key Ingredients for Greek Air Fryer Wings
In the quest for the most flavorful Greek Air Fryer Wings, I’ve discovered that each ingredient plays a starring role in creating that authentic taste. Let’s dive into what you’ll need for this delicious dish.
Chicken Wings: Choosing the right chicken wings is crucial. I often opt for fresh, organic wings as they tend to be juicier and more flavorful. If you can’t find fresh ones, frozen wings are a good substitute, but be sure to thaw them completely before marinating.
Olive Oil: A key component of Greek cuisine, olive oil lends a rich flavor while helping the wings achieve that perfect crispy texture in the air fryer. Using high-quality, extra virgin olive oil elevates the dish significantly.
Greek Yogurt: This is the secret to tender and moist wings. Greek yogurt not only adds creaminess but also acts as a marinade, infusing the chicken with zestiness.
Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice brightens the flavors and balances the richness of the olive oil and yogurt. Don’t skimp on it; it really brings the dish to life!
Oregano: Dried oregano is a quintessential spice in Greek cooking. It imparts a lovely earthiness that complements the other ingredients beautifully. Make sure to use a good quality herb for the best flavor.
Each of these elements works together, creating a symphony of flavors in your Greek Air Fryer Wings!

Cooking Tips for Perfect Greek Air Fryer Wings
Creating Greek Air Fryer Wings that are crispy, flavorful, and all-around amazing is a culinary journey worth taking. Whether it’s a cozy night in or a gathering with friends, these wings are sure to impress. To ensure your wings turn out perfect every time, here are some essential tips.
Start with Quality Ingredients
Choosing the right ingredients sets the foundation for delicious wings. Opt for fresh chicken wings to ensure they cook evenly. When it comes to spices, using fresh herbs like oregano or even a squeeze of lemon can enhance the Greek flavors that make this dish a standout.
Marination is Key
Don’t rush the marinating process. Ideally, let your wings soak in the marinade for at least an hour, but for a more robust flavor, consider overnight marination. This step allows the flavors to penetrate deep into the meat, making each bite more satisfying.
Preheat Your Air Fryer
To achieve that signature crispy exterior, it’s crucial to preheat your air fryer. This ensures that the wings cook evenly and get that delightful crunch without losing their juiciness.
Flip Halfway Through Cooking
For evenly cooked Greek Air Fryer Wings, flip them halfway through the cooking time. This simple action helps them brown beautifully on all sides.
By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to serving up wings that your friends will rave about! Enjoy the taste of Greece, right in your kitchen.

Air Fryer Greek Wings
- Total Time: 4 hours 26 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Diet: Gluten-Free
Description
Deliciously marinated Greek wings, perfect for any gathering or as a tasty appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 T freshly-grated lemon zest (optional, but recommended)
- 1 T fresh-squeezed lemon juice (or more if you really like lemon)
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp. minced garlic (or more)
- 1 tsp. salt (more or less to taste)
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 pounds trimmed raw chicken wings (see notes)
- Whipped Feta Dip with Sumac for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Trim the wings if needed. (We didn’t need to do much trimming for the Kirkland Party Wings we used, but some grocery store wings will need to have excess skin and fat trimmed.)
- Zest the skin from a lemon and then squeeze the juice. (Or you can use fresh-frozen lemon juice and skip the zest if you don’t want to buy a lemon.)
- Whisk together lemon zest (if using), lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
- Put the wings and marinade in a large Ziploc bag or plastic container with a snap-tight lid, and let them marinate in the fridge for a minimum of four hours, or marinating them overnight or for eight hours or longer will give more flavor.
- When you’re ready to cook, drain the wings into a colander place in the sink and discard the marinade. (If you don’t want the oily marinade to go down your sink, catch it in a bowl and discard.)
- Let wings come to room temperature while you preheat Air Fryer to 400F/205C. (Preheat without the rack in the Air Fryer if you are going to use Air Fryer Parchment Paper, which I recommend.)
- Line Air Fryer rack with Air Fryer Parchment Paper if using. Try to arrange wings in the Air Fryer basket so they are not touching each other. (I was able to fit 18 wing pieces in my Cuisinart Air Fryer, but if you have a smaller Air Fryer you may need to cook in two batches.)
- Cook wings 8 minutes, or until they are golden-brown on the first side. (Some Air Fryers cook a bit hotter, so I’d start checking after 6 minutes.)
- Remove Air Fryer basket and turn wings over (with tongs or a fork so you don’t burn your fingers).
- Put basket back into the Air Fryer and cook until the second side is golden brown and wings have reached 165F/75C in the thickest part. (For us that was 6 minutes on the second side, but other Air Fryer models might take a bit more or less time.)
- While the wings cook, make the Whipped Feta Dip with Sumac (or other dip or sauce of your choice).
- Serve the Greek Wings hot, with plenty of napkins!
Notes
- Wings can be trimmed if necessary, depending on the specific product.
- Marinating the wings overnight helps to enhance flavor significantly.
